Character Creation

To help you get started here is a basic outline of what you need to do to begin play here at Destiny’s Forge.

  • First thing you should do is familiarize yourself with Exalted, which can be found starting on Page 22 of the 2nd Edition Exalted Core book. When reading, keep in mind our location for play is focused in the Southern Region and Chiaroscuro specifically. This information should help you develop a character with a good concept, so it will integrate into our setting.

  • Armed with a conceptual character type, you now have to choose which type of Exalt or other character type. We ask that you have the appropriate rule book for the exalt type you wish to play, as we use the rules in the book for character creation. There are some exceptions to this however, which can be found in the links below:

- Dragon-Kings and Mountain Folk
- Sidereal
- Fair Folk
- Infernal
- Alchemical
- Crafted Races and God-Bloods

  • Also, for Infernals, Sidereal and Fair Folk characters we hold players to a higher standard of knowledge. They really need to be extremely familiar with all of the information in the Sidereals or Graceful Wicked Masques book.

  • If you are looking for some helpful tips on choosing abilities and where to place your dots, some can be found under our Character Statistics page.

  • For players who seek to play characters with a little more experience than a starting character, Destiny's Forge has developed bonus templates that players may apply to certain character types (see this link here.)  Characters with templates are intended to represent characters that have existed with the setting for longer periods of time; so the higher value your template is, the more entwined with the setting you should be.

  • When submitting a character for sanctioning, please confirm if there are any items you need to justify or concepts that need to be considered carefully. See the following links below for such sections:

- Items requiring justification
- Undesirable character types
- Merits and Flaws
- General Rules

  • With the basic plan in mind for what you wish to create, either enter the character into the database if it is currently supported or create a left justified text document character sheet and send it in a Forum Private Message along with the back story questions (see this link here) to a storyteller who has agreed to look over the sheet.

  • As well, another thing to keep in mind when creating characters is that there is a limit for the amount of characters each player can have. We'll be splitting character types into two separate categories: The Lesser Races and the Exalted.

Lesser Races:
- Mortals/God-Bloods
- Ghosts
- Fair Folk
- Mountain Folk
- Dragon Kings

Exalted:
- Solar
- Lunar
- Dragon-Blood
- Sidereal
- Abyssal
- Infernal
- Alchemicals

You will get to pick up to two Lesser Races to play. Picking a mortals as a slot will give you two mortals for that one spot (mortals do encompass the Crafted Races as well as God-Bloods).

For Exalts you will get to pick up to three total. Picking Dragon-Blood will give you the option to make both a Outcaste and a Dynast.
